NACJB/NACLB welcome applications for the 2025-2026 performance year from students 20 years of age or younger (as of January 1, 2026) on the following instruments:

Alto Saxophone (NACLB)

Tenor Saxophone (NACJB & NACLB)

Baritone Saxophone (NACLB)

Trumpet (NACJB & NACLB)

Trombone (NACLB)

Guitar (NACLB)

Piano (NACJB & NACLB)

Bass (NACJB)

Auditions will occur between September 15-17 at Nepean HS.  Audition music and individual audition dates/times will be sent about a week before the auditions begin.  You will have the opportunity to demonstrate improvisational skill if you so choose.  If you are interested in auditioning for the NACJB/NACLB program, please register at this link.

1. Please prepare all of the required material for your instrument (The audition piece wil be posted on this page on or before Monday September 8th) . You will also be asked to perform a sight reading piece as well as a chromatic scale from the lowest note to the highest note that you can play to demonstrate your range (not required for drummers).

2. To demonstrate tone quality, power and range prepare a long tone scale.

3. Drummers will be asked to play a variety of grooves in addition to the prepared pieces and sight reading.

Should you wish to demonstrate your ability to improvise, please prepare one of the following standard tunes:

Please note that you are not required to improvise during the audition.
